About This Site
If you're curious about how we built our website, grab a seat!
We’re Hip!
The design, front-end, and back-end code were implemented by The Hip Bit, a tiny agency with a big heart and a medium-sized beard.
The front bit
We use Basecoat UI as the foundation for our frontend. It’s a nice balance of clean aesthetics, vanilla technology, and just a sprinkle of Tailwind CSS—and hold the React, please!
Fonts
Our site uses the Geist Sans typeface for headings. This is an open-source font created in collaboration between Vercel and Basement Studio. It can be found on GitHub.
Images
We’re big fans of the hand-drawn illustration style of @alicia-mb’s work at rawpixel.com. The rough and playful feel perfectly complements the somewhat austere theme of a modern website. We found the art used on this site at FreePik.
Hosting
We use Netlify to host our web site. We really appreciate their reliability, and easy-to-use interface.
The build bit
Our website was built using Astro. Astro works well with our components and Markdown content. If you build websites, you should check out Astro.
User management
We’re just going to say it: user management can be a lot. Luckily Clerk has made it simple and we’re very glad to use them.
The database bit
What’s a web application without data? We don’t know but we’ve got plenty of data and it’s all hosted for us in postgres by Neon.
